A transaction is equivalent to a stock purchase. To add a new transaction to Stock Watcher, press the New Transaction button. A dialog window will appear, allowing you to enter information about the new transaction. For each new transaction, you can specify the symbol for the transaction, the number of shares bought, the purchase price and the time and date of the purchase.

The stock symbol must be chosen among the stocks which are currently being monitored by Stock Watcher. If you wish to add a transaction for a stock symbol, it must first be added to the ticker.

The number of shares and the stock price can be specified as real values or integers. A time and date are automatically inserted for you but can be modified as needed. The time and date value are there for future use and are currently not very useful.

Once a new transaction is created, it will be added to the Summary page and a new tab will be added to the notebook if needed. If transactions for that symbol already exist, the new transaction will be added at the end of the list. The Summary page may not be immediately updated to reflect newly added transactions. The values displayed will be correct the next time data is fetched for the symbol.

If you need to modify or delete a transaction, you can do so by selecting the tab for the symbol to modify and pressing the Edit or Delete button. A confirmation dialog will appear before any transaction is deleted. When a transaction is deleted, the Summary page may not be immediately updated to reflect the change. It will be updated the next time data is fetched for the symbol.
